Alison Woollard meets some 11 week old Oriental kittens to look at Mendelian inheritance. By also meeting the kittens' mother and father, the random nature of inherited characteristics can be seen. The kittens have different colour coats, and some even have long hair despite both parents having short hair, something they inherited from their grandparents..
