"CHRISTIAN DIOR" Cruise Collection 2014 by Fashion Channel
Dresses are see-through tunics designed in a new and original patchwork version, blazers nod to the maison's iconic T-bar jackets displaying big areas of colour that use contrasts to enhance the figure. However, lace -- usually not part of the designer's repertoire -- is the star feature of the collection: worked to resemble a floral print that complements the oversized flower print (a real one in this case) appearing everywhere, it is offered in subtly romantic pastel hues and showcases a side to the designer that was hidden up to now and is absolutely modern. Mixed with bold colours, geometric graphic detailing and asymmetric calf-length skirt/pants. Offsetting the fluidity of the evening garments, a sport-inspired zip replaces old-fashioned buttons and fastening to outline the figure.
Raf Simons knows very well that opposites attract each other and shows he's learnt his "lesson" by striking the right balance of tradition and innovation, classic style and sporty accents.
