Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that the government has demonstrated utmost patience and tolerance in the current political crisis, otherwise it was not difficult to get the roads cleared from the protestors.

The Prime Minister was addressing the public meeting after the inauguration of Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL)’s well No 1 in jand tehsil of Attock District.

On the occassion, PM Nawaz urged the protesting parties not to create obstacles in the country s development as the entire nation wants improvement in their lives.

Referring to ongoing sit-ins by Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri, he said that the Chinese president cancelled his visit because of the protests outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, adding that the protesters are hindering the economic growth of Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif said that he was elected by one hundred and eighty million people and would not resign on the demand of barely a few thousand people. The whole parliament and the political parties stand united for the sake of democracy, he added.

He rejected the rigging allegations in 2013 general elections and claimed that the elections were conducted by a neutral set up constituted on consent of the political parties. Talking about the 2008 general elections, he mentioned that despite the rejection of Shahbaz Sharif’s nomination papers his party went for the elections and accepted the electoral results. He added that his party did not open any front against Pakistan People’s Party though the party had reservations against the election results. However, the current government which has just completed one year in office is facing protestation.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced that the government would be investing in many power development projects in order to resolve the electricity crisis in Pakistan at earliest.

It is only through embarking upon the electricity crisis that we can resolve the other issues facing Pakistan like unemployment, poverty, infrastructure development and utilization of health care services, the PM stated.

Earlier, the Prime Minister inaugurated a well of OGDCL at Soghri, Attock. He was accompanied by Federal Minister for Petroleum & Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Minister of State for Petroleum Jam Kamal Khan.
