Misal pav is one of the popular maharashtrian , traditional Indian street food recipes. It consists of spicy curry and is topped with some delicious misal chivda/sev and farsan.
Ingredients:
२ tbsp तेल
१ tsp राई
१०-१२ कड़ी पत्ता
१/४ tsp हींग
अदरक लहसुन हरी मिर्ची की पेस्ट
१ बारीक कटा हुआ प्याज़
३ बारीक कटे हुए टमाटर
१/४ tsp हल्दी
१ tsp कश्मीरी लाल मिर्च पाउडर
१/२ tsp धनिया जीरा पाउडर
१ tsp आचार मसाला
नमक
४ cup पानी
१ & १/२ cup मूंग
मिसल चिवड़ा
धनिया पत्ता
Method:
- In a pan, heat 2 tbsp. of oil.
- Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida, coarsly ground paste of ginger, garlic and chilli and saute it all properly in the oil.
- Then add 1 big finely chopped onion, finely chopped tomatoes, 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder, 1 tsp. kashmiri red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp. coriander and cumin seed powder and 1 tsp. pickle masala into the above ingredients.
- Cook the tomatoes till they are nice and soft.
- Then add a generous amount of salt into the ingredients.
- Once the tomatoes are nicely cooked, add about 3 1/2 to 4 cups of water to it and let the water boil for about 5-7 minutes.
- Add sprouted moong to the above ingredients and let it cook for about 5-6 minutes.
- Once the sprouts are cooked, add some coriander leaves to it.
- Serve the misal with some misal chivda sprinkled on the top or garnish it with some finely chopped onions.
