A stolen big rig has been located in Montana. Under normal circumstances, that would make police and the freight company very happy, however in this case it’s a disaster, as the truck is filled with rotting meat.
A stolen big rig has been located in Montana. Under normal circumstances, that would make police and the freight company very happy, however in this case it’s a disaster, as the truck is filled with rotting meat.
The unrefrigerated semi is loaded with chicken. The vehicle is parked underneath the blistering sun and it was there for days before it was discovered by police.
Law enforcement officials became suspicious when it started leaking horrid-smelling chicken juice. A trace of the plates revealed the truck belongs to the Idaho-based Dixie River Freight, which had reported the semi stolen about month ago.
Approximately 35,000 pounds of raw chicken are inside the vehicle, with a total value of around 80 grand. The alleged truck thief has been identified as 42-year-old Christopher L. Hall.
On August 20th, Hall picked up the trailer in Arkansas. The plan was for him to drop it off the following day in Washington, however he contacted staffers at Dixie River Freight inquiring about more money.
The company wouldn’t pay until he made the delivery, so Hall essentially held the trailer and its contents ransom before deciding to abandon it. Now, health officials are trying to determine how to handle the situation.
They can either remove the rancid chicken or wrap the trailer and its contents before it is transported out of Montana. The insurance companies want the trailer to remain in the same location until employees can investigate what occurred.
