Kaliya Mardan is a 1919 silent film by Dhundiraj Govind Phalke starring Neelkanth and Mandakini Phalke.
The movie outlines the story of Lord Krishna and Kaliya. Kaliya is the name of a poisonous Naga living in the Yamuna River of Vrindavan. The water of the Yamuna is boiling and bubbling with his poison. No bird or beast could go near the river and only one solitary, Kadamba tree is standing on the river bank. Once Krishna and the shepherd boys were playing ball, and while playing, Krishna climbs up the Kadamba tree and clings on to the tree, when the ball in his hand, falls into the river and Krishna jumps into the river for it.
