UPDATE : Alexia Thomas, 23, and Detray Shivers, 25, were initially charged with Cruelty to Children, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to distribute. Shivers has also been charged with tampering with evidence.

At first, police did not know if the boy had found the gun, or if he had been shot by someone else.

After further investigation, police determined that the boy couldn't have shot himself.

Authorities charged Shiver with murder. He was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Thursday.
