A face off on Turkey's border with Syria.
Turkish security forces use tear gas and water cannon to control a crowd of Kurdish refugees... apparently, after they tried to return to Syria to support Kurdish forces fighting Islamic State.
It's a desperate battle for the Syrian town of Kobani, with Islamic State intensifying their assault and Kurdish fighters firing back -- calling on Kurds across the region to take up arms and join the fight.
The war raged as night fell, with US-led coalition warplanes attacking Islamic State targets in the border town.
Around 180,000 people have already fled the violence into neighboring Turkey, who in defense, have increased their military might along the border.
