Gunfire broke out inside a Walmart store in San Leandro, California. The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Sunday right as employees were getting ready to close for the night.
Prior to the shots being fired, the business’s security staff attempted to detain two males on suspicion of shoplifting. Reportedly, at least one suspect brandished a gun and opened fire.
A shopper who was inside the store at the time described the aftermath stating “I was in the back just shopping, and suddenly we just heard the gunshots and we just heard people screaming and we just started heading towards the back and we ended up in the back room.”
Between 6 and 8 rounds are believed to have been fired inside the store before a loss prevention officer was able to grab hold of the alleged thieves’ arms and put a stop to shooting.
Witnesses said the store employee and suspects got into a physical scuffle and a police official confirmed the security officer wrestled at least one of the suspects to the ground.
Fortunately no one was struck by the bullets. Cops arrested two males in connection to the crime, and are looking for a 3rd person who may have been involved.
