It’s common for humans to have an allergy to dogs but what about the other way around?
In an extremely rare case, a dog in Indiana is actually allergic to people. The black lab named Adam stays at Lucky Dog Retreat Rescue, which is owned by Robin Herman.
She saw the pooch on a pet rescue site and offered to take him in. She and her staff did their best to nurse him to full health. He was given top notch food and special baths to get rid of fleas.
However his condition didn’t improve like Herman had hoped. When employees at Lucky Dog Retreat Rescue failed to determine the problem, he was given a blood test.
After the results came back and showed that Adam is allergic to human dander, pretty much everyone was shocked.
Herman remarked “He's smart, he learns, knows a bunch of commands, he's a great dog. It's not his fault. We raised as much money as we can and we're not going to stop until he's better.”
Veterinarians believe the issue can be corrected. A serum has been developed and Adam is getting allergy shots.
