A drug store certainly isn’t a place you might expect to see a black bear. Nevertheless, that’s where one recently flocked to.
A drug store certainly isn’t a place you might expect to see a black bear. Nevertheless, that’s where one recently ended up.
The small bear cub snuck through the doors of a Rite-Aid in Ashland, Oregon and wandered around the aisles.
Shoppers and store employees were shocked at the rare and adorable sight. Police were called to the scene to capture the roughly 13 pound cub.
It took a little bit of chasing but after a couple of minutes, officers were able to contain the bear inside a shopping basket.
The female cub was transferred to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. It is not yet known if something happened to her mother or if the two somehow became separated.
Veterinarians determined the baby bear was slightly underweight, but they believe she was born later in the year which could explain her small size.
She is now staying at a facility called PAWS in Lynnwood, Washington, where she will continue to receive care. Although the bear is safely being monitored now, she did have quite the adventure.
Just prior to the Rite-Aid stunt, the creature reportedly walked into a Super 8 motel, wandered through a room and jumped out the window. After that, she crossed the street and checked out the drugstore.
