An elderly motorist recently crashed through a Hallmark store in Oakton, Virginia.
The 87-year-old driver of the Cadillac CTS reportedly thought the vehicle was in reverse when hitting the gas pedal. The auto jumped the curb and went straight through the front display window, coming to a stop near the rear inside wall. Merchandise was left strewn all over the floor among panels and pieces of shattered glass.
Store owner Lisa Gaudette spoke about the crash stating “I didn't know what was going on actually. All I heard was ‘boom, boom, boom!' It reminded me a little bit of when the earthquake hit a couple of years ago.”
The vehicle barely missed striking Hallmark staffers and shoppers. Fortunately nobody was injured in the wreck, however the driver and passenger of the Cadillac were taken to the hospital for a precautionary check-up.
The Hallmark store wasn’t so fortunate. The building is said to have encountered structural damage. The impact of the crash was so strong, the entire front façade of the store was virtually gone.
