Merciless
monsoon breaks
Westerly
winds strong
lift up
the roof
from under
its tethers weak
As if
a roosting falcon's
feathers
it flaps
in the gale
Rafters quiver
Shatter
hopes and peace
in thunder shower

And
rain invades
I shift possessions
many a time
Mom
grumbles from
a smokey damp kitchen
blowing hard at the embers
dying
And placing pans
under the drips

Rain or shine
dad never
shifts position
Blows on new books
of all sorts
Dictionaries
Collins
Oxford
Cambridge
and classics
instead
