Lila Holmes - Summer

The sun warms me to my core.

The green grass engulfs me

I watch the clouds float by.

Condensation creeps down the glass.

Ice slowly disappearing,

Turning my bright yellow drink cloudy.

Birds fly above me in a perfect arrow.

Flies buzz in my ear

While bees pollinate the petunias

I hear the laughter of children in the distance.

The pool is the color of the bright blue sky,

The light breeze creating wave.

It's hard to read with the glare of the sun,

but as long as the sun is hot,

and my lemonade is sweet,

nothing else matters.
