He wished that he could buy her love
But riches had he none.

He wished that he could win her love
Through good deeds he had done.

He wished that he could tempt her love
With promises yet untold.

He wished that he could warm somehow
A heart that is stone cold.

He wished that he could some day be
A handsome millionaire.

But even then he could not buy
Something that was never there.

My many years of wedded bliss
Has shown to me the key.

The heart that holds the truest love,
Is the heart that's given free.
