Sometimes the most unexpected things can result in a flight delay. Recently, a U.S.-bound, Norwegian Air Shuttle plane was thrown off schedule because of a mouse.
For hours, passengers were forced to wait around until the go-ahead for takeoff was given. The incident occurred on Tuesday on a plane that was slated to depart from Norway and land at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
Prior to hitting the skies, the small mouse was discovered on the Dreamliner aircraft.
The new Boeing 787 Dreamliners are causing a buzz in the aviation industry. Unfortunately for travelers in this case, they weren’t able to hop onboard and enjoy the interior of the aircraft in a timely fashion.
An airline spokesperson explained “In such situations, a pest control company must board the plane. The mouse needs to be found and then removed. In addition we need to check the whole plane.”
Previous incidents involving mice on airplanes have resulted in the creatures chewing through cables and such. In this case, the entire process to remove it took about 5 hours.
After the mouse was gone, passengers were permitted to board the aircraft. Last year, Norwegian Air Shuttle became the first budget carrier in Europe to fly long journeys with the Dreamliners .
Now, the airline is using the planes 18 hours per day.
