Donkeys or asses are adorable, but like many creatures in the animal family, they can have quite a mischievous streak. Recently, a 13-year-old donkey in Switzerland named Nilo got stuck inside an uncovered manhole.
Donkeys are adorable, but like many creatures in the animal family, they can have quite a mischievous streak. Recently, a 13-year-old donkey in Switzerland named Nilo got stuck inside an uncovered manhole.
Reportedly, he had escaped from a petting zoo and decided to go exploring in a playground before landing in trouble. Somehow Nilo fell into the manhole.
The donkey’s lower body was left inside the underground portion of the opening while his head and front legs were sticking out above ground.
Manholes don't seem too comfortable even for a human so it's safe to assume Nilo must have been extremely uncomfortable.
A passerby noticed the creature helplessly protruding out of the manhole and contacted police.
Law enforcement officials got in touch with the fire department. A crew of firefighters responded to the scene and gently lifted Nilo out.
The donkey encountered several flesh wounds, but aside from that Nilo was mostly uninjured. He has since been returned to the petting zoo.
An investigation has been launched to determine why the manhole cover was removed and how the animal ended up inside the opening.
