white sunshine, Carolina beaches
my happy times, my hearts divine retreat
the salty wind, the oceans wave
runs wild through my hair
the moon, the compass of the sea
my heart, ruler of my mind & soul
even under light blue skies
there are people everywhere
not like how I remember
prime time summer weather
children playing in what's left of the high tide
a mental shot, capturing these lazy days surrounding me
headphones in, Pink Floyd in my mind
and I'm comfortably numb again
on my Island of memory, Hilton Head.
I walk along the shore like when I was a kid
dancing to the beat of my own rhythm
and I sing of hope instead of sorrow:
I took the little ghost of me away on holiday.
