I’m still as simple [shallow? ]
Still as ‘deep’
And certainly still as short
[If not shorter, courtesy of the inevitable age-induced
Compression of inter-vertebral cartilage];
But I genuinely didn’t know
I could be considered embarrassing.
Questioning the questionable: yes.
Railing occasionally against the faintly ridiculous: that too.
Just having the temerity to take the time and trouble to ask
‘Why? ’ or indeed, ‘Why not? ’
Well, why not ask ‘Why not? ’?
What’s wrong with that when it’s not right?
Maybe it’s the consequence of crossing the continent
But I think
[Lest it be too presumptuous of me],
Not.
It’s just me being me,
Having more of an analytical mind than I thought
And perhaps less of suppression button than I ought.
