Michael Shepherd - Pushing up the daisies

Suppose that in the graveyards of our grief,
so still and silent, frozen by our tears,
those corpses, by some heavenly alchemy
pushed up, not only daisies, but new flowers
of strange, new, glorious species, in their love:
messages of all not known or said
when merely human; now, in heaven's bright light
their gift from death to life of timeless love
to generate a generation 's seed:
what heaven on earth would flowering graveyards be...

Now close your eyes, and wipe your tears away-

Why yes - perhaps that's true.
