i like young women
college-aged girls, faces fresh out of high school
they’re easier to lie to.
you can tell them anything
and they’ll get into bed with you.

(usually i’ve found
the greater the lie,
the better the sex.)
but that’s much harder to do with older women;
women in their thirties

with marriage on their minds
who were once young, too
with faces fresh out of high school.
they’ve played all those games,
they remember the lies of their former lovers

they carry those memories like scars
older women can smell a bullshit story
before you can even think one up.
and they won’t hesitate to
slam the door in your face

before it leaves your lips.
and i guess i like older women for that reason.
because, just as you can’t lie
to an older woman, an older woman won’t lie to you.
she knows she doesn’t have to.

an older woman knows a man
is inherently full of shit.
and all she has to do to get a
young man into bed with her
is tell him the truth.
