Rain from the heavens
Relieves a parched, thirsty land
The people rejoice
Snow floats gently down
Covers the earth, a carpet
Squirrels hide 'til spring
Splendid old sunshine
Warms our hearts with lazy thoughts
Dreams of lakes, mountains
Sleet, chilly and wet
Falls in sheets of melting ice
Turns the earth to mud
Clouds spread, fill the sky
Darken the world bringing gloom
Yet welcomed by some
Thick blanket of fog
Dense yet light as a feather
Greets chilly mornings
