The eyes of a child are sparking black
When they look at you you can't look back.
Innocence and clarity
Emphasize disparity,
Now that I am grown
Into a block of wood or stone
And my eyes have faded dark and brown.
Sparkling black eyes are pretty, of course,
But does it mean that mine are worse?
Experience and suffering undergone
Can turn no man to wood or stone;
And if my eyes are less bold,
Would I exchange them still for an ignorant world?
