Will Barber - Migrations

Somewhere, far beyond the sky,
Fledglings by the millions fly -
Testing wings and tasting winds,
Preparing for the foreign lands.

Autumn will at last arrive.
Birds - and we - will just survive
All the travails of the sky,
Of the earth that passes by.

Every breeze, each breath of air
Shall guide our wings to lands afar.

Weep not, neither wait:
Wings and winds will guide
You to the southern gate,
Where in green meadows
You may joyfully reside
In white wings' shadows.
