Seasons of the year
Make one’s memory clear
Of events favorable in the past
While sorrow’s are but trying ghost.
Welcome the coming season
With “come what may”, within reason
For as sure as the sun arrises
We’ll have some surprises
And welcome with open arms
Nature, as she displays her many charms.
When the ravages of old age
Extracts a physical and mental wage
Even then we’ll toast by the winter fire
And savor the chestnuts of yore.
