how often one feels
this civilization is a burden,

how often one feels
ones life has been a journey
backwards,

from twilight to darkness
to deeper darkness,

how often one feels like
shouting at people on the marquee,

how often one feels
this dress, this make-up,
this lipstick, this wallet,
this money, this son,
this wife, these relatives
this comfort, this air-conitioned life,
is a smother on your real self,

you feel like shouting at the high-heaven,
why this treachery, this conspiracy,
to load more and more of
so-called civilization on you,
so that less and less human you
become.

the divine spark
so bright and eloquent at birth,
gets dimmer and dimmer,
as you grow up and up
into the civilization,

alas! a conspiracy
of man with man
against God.
