They are taking his family home today
My friend called to ask if I could help prevent it
The auction starts promptly at two pm
Right there on his dream house’s front lawn
All the vultures, buzzards and birds of prey
Will wait with their drool cups in place
Perched with sharp pencils and talons ready
To rip this poor man’s heart from his chest
His wife and family built the house themselves
Drove every nail, hung every rafter and placed every brick
So as it would protect and shelter them through any storm
But one....
Turns out they weren’t covered for a flood
Of bad luck with a little bit of thievery thrown in
Crooked banks and lenders gave them easy money when times were good
Now they want it all back with interest and blood to boot
With a racketeer’s ransom they hold this family hostage
To what could be called an execution….
Sure, you could say they were careless with their money
Who amongst us could see a debilitating illness coming
Both he and his wife were suddenly struck down and disabled
Shortly after a son blew out his brains with his new shotgun
All because he couldn’t face the future
My friend called this morning…..to tell me they were taking his home
And after a long pause he said,
“Maybe my boy knew something”
I know what he meant, as I’ve been thinking a lot about it too
Sometimes Life is just not worth what we pay for it
