'Leadbelly' was a very important folk song performer in the middle of the 20th century. 'Jump down, turn around' is the first line from one of his songs.

Jump down, turn around
when you write a poem
Jump down, turn around
in a different way –
Make it sing, and make it dance,
life is short, but here’s your chance
to make things sparkle and lighten up
and put a little romance in your cup.
Poetry can do it, like nothing else,
but you must do it
in a different way
If you want to be successful
and have the reader pay
attention to your words no matter
what they say.
I don’t know if I do it,
but I have a lot of fun,
When I try to make my words
look clever when I’m done.
