Full of optimism
I sow seeds in the garden that is my heart
The roots take hold
Early signs are good as strong fresh shoots grow
The roots grow deeper, buds appear with a promise of summer
Deep in my mind I sow the seeds of doubt
Thus begins the struggle between heart and mind
Absence makes the mind grow stronger
The roots of doubt thriving, reaching down into my heart
They strangle the shoots of love
Before the inevitable withering
I nip the buds of love
