Suzy (Our Rescued Dog)
My daughter found you on the Internet one day
Kept passing you over because you were so far away
We wanted a small dog for Grandpa to walk
To eat up the time off of the clock
We drove hundreds of miles to meet you one day
But had to come back for you after your spay
We brought you home to stay with us here
Not knowing your past or what you may fear
It took you awhile to get over your spay
We thought you were so quiet day after day
But then your true colors started to appear
It wasn't long before you were barking in our ear
You barked at the dogs and the cats
You barked at the biker wearing a hat
You barked at the mailman leaving the mail
You barked at the squirrel flicking his tail
There wasn't a thing that could not pass your view
That started you barking and wanting to pursue
Until one day we walked past a horse or two
And you just stopped and didn't know what to do
Was this something you have never seen?
Or were horses part of your routine?
All of these questions we will never know
For you were rescued from someone who mistreated you so
(and even if you barked from the start
We won't give you back....your stuck in our heart)
