Being an off-the-cuff(could have been worse) birthday verse for
Miss Tara

Well, for what
it’s worth

it’s your day
of birth

& you’ve kept
true to yourself

(true grit)

always making sure that
your skirts are too short

& your hair too blonde

but what
the heck

that’s just
you.


And you
the master (& mistress) of words

telling them
what’s what

& what
they should do

& the words
(being good little words)
do exactly what you tell them to do.

And not only can you
make a good point

but put away
a pint

quicker than one can say:
“Tara McHale...this is your life! ”

But hey(as I say)
that’s just you

& we all love
the you that you do.

As Scarlet O’ Hara
(not to be confused with
that sweet Miss Treat)

proclaimed in the final frame:
“There’s always Tara! ”

And as for
birthdays?

Let’s let her
also have the final say:

“I won’t think about it today
I’ll think about it

...tomorrow! ”
