Francis Duggan - One Voice From Old Duhallow

I live thousands of miles south of old Hibernia's shore
One voice from old Duhallow just that and nothing more
My prime years in the early seventies my better days long gone
And only the desire to live that keeps me keeping on
Like all of those i went to school with I've known a better day
And the years are taking toll on me and have left me looking gray,
One voice from old Duhallow where i lived in my prime
The young man of the seventies is now an ageing man of rhyme
One voice from old Duhallow but a lesser voice 'twould seem
And in my flights of fancy i visualize the old stream
Babbling it's way through Claraghatlea by many a hedgerow
From it's birthplace in a high field of Claramore to the river it does flow,
One voice from old Duhallow but a voice few wish to hear
From Claraghatlea by Clara hill many miles north of here.
