There was a nutty sheep-dog
Way back in ancient Rome
The Emperor brought him back from Wales
To work in his new home

The emperor was a cruel sod
There’d never been one meaner
When his lions chomped on Christian chow
He’d laugh like a hyena.

He dressed the Christians, all in wool
So the dog took them for sheep
He would round them up toward the lions
That’s how he earned his keep

So mad this dog, and keen as well
Would chase the sheep until he fell
The only way to make him rest?
A bag over his head and chest.

The arena in Rome was named after him
Though you won’t hear THAT in a museum.
How the emperor would shout, “Guard, remove the bag,
And let the Collie see’em.
