As I approached the schoolyard,
I heard the children playing.
I heard their loud cries of joy,
That’s when I noticed one little boy.

He sat alone against the fence,
Knees drawn tight against his chest.
His expression was severely coy,
I was suspicious of that one little boy.

I wondered as I walked down the street,
How long would he sit there?
I stopped when I saw him snatch a toy
I was astonished! That unruly little boy!

“Give that back! ” I heard one cry,
I then saw tears roll down her face.
He teased her with the stolen toy,
I was now angry with that one little boy.

The teacher came to save the day,
She returned the toy to the girl.
He sat back down against the fence, his face coy,
And I would always remember that one little boy.

I would always remember that one little boy,
Whose face was coy,
Who snatched a toy,
That suspicious, unruly, strange little boy.
