It is always a pleasure
to find myself out here on the porch.
Sitting out here
when I’m usually fast asleep
has it’s own special mystic.
It’s my way to unwind a bit,
and after a hot summer’s day
it’s a good way to cool off.
Sometimes I’ll sit and write a poem.
Sometimes I’ll star gaze.
I like to watch the traffic and people go by.
Then again,
I’m out here just for the pleasure of it.
Tonight, it’s rainy and a bit cool
so a sweater is needed.
It amazes me when I see the Mr. Softie ice cream truck
come around this time of night,
even when it rains like this,
ringing its bells,
expecting people to come out and buy ice cream.
I’m surprised that someone
hasn’t complained that the truck’s bells
hasn’t woken them up at this time of night.
Late night porch sitting
is when I find out information
I can’t get during the day.
