My Daddy's Hands
I came into the world
And reached for your strong hands,
My tiny fingers knew you,
Before I could understand.
Your hands proudly held me,
And smoothed my newborn hair.
They've grow to love and tickle,
And toss me in the air.
Your hands are there to catch
Me when I fall, to teach me
How to crawl.
To show me how to walk,
And soften each new fall.
Your hands are the guideposts,
That set and keep the rules.
Remember you're my daddy
When I'm crying late at night,
when I need a little loving
To know that it's alright.
Remember you're my daddy
The one who keeps me from harm,
when you'd do anything for me
Because you can't resist my charm.
Remember you're my daddy
When I have a real rough day,
Remember you're my daddy
When I make you very proud,
when in a very awkward way
I stand out in a crowd.
Remember you're my daddy
With every bruise that you will kiss,
Remember you're my daddy
And know one can ever take
That away I love you DADDY!
So here's a little handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small.
One day I will understand.
The power of love,
Held in my Daddy's heart
