You were my mid-winter sunrise.
You shone through the dark caverns of
My blinkered eyes. Your gentle light
Renewed the cycle of my life.
Stirred as the seed in winter soil
My heart unfurled an eager leaf
And stretched a root into my soul
To find a rich and fallowed field.
So rise, bright star of dawning light
Rise ever further to the east,
Ever higher, ever brighter.
Rest further west
Each contented evening.
If you should fade,
I too shall die.
