Leslie Alexis - I Am...

I am the stain on the glass window
And the spilled ink on that canvas,
I am the squeaking sound at your front door
And every country on your atlas.

I am the bus that always is late
And the train that just won’t go fast,
I am all things both small and great,
I am the slow kid who comes in last.

I am the sound of a popped balloon,
A hundred times louder than bubble-rap’s,
I am a deathly Norwegian typhoon
And the kid drinking from rivers, not taps.

I am the quiet, but proper tenant,
The one who always pays his rent,
I am a scorpion whose stings like red-ants
And I am the good-for-nothing government.

I am the spoiled teen produced by Disney
And I am the red carpet in Hollywood,
I am the mineral buildup in your kidney
And the poem that no one understood.
