Drenched in rain
You came knocking
At my closed door
I saw your face
Gleaming with raindrops
And your unique smile

You pushed away the raindrops
Off your forehead
And looked at me
In a boyish glee.

Where have you been,
I said feigning anger

Can't you see,
I came back twice alive
Just for you,
You said.

There had been rain
And what rain it was!

It soaked my native soil
And my vegetation
Absorbed the rain drops
Together they opened
All the niches of my lungs
So far closed as I plodded
On the routine dusty tracks
The canals and streams
Overflowed to wash away the murk
Accumulated on the bizarre paths
And you know,
They even quenched
My unquenchable thirst

Listen,
The soothing winds
Blowing from the far end
Touching the village cemetery
Caused me come alive
Just for once.

I guarded the life
And came rushing to you!
