Quarantines in Mali after Ebola claims second life

Officials in Mali are taking no chances, following the death of a second person from Ebola.

The victim was a 25-year-old nurse who died after treating a man from Guinea, whose symptoms were not initially recognized as Ebola.

A two-year-old died from ther virus last month.

Now..officials have confined more than 90 people in the capital city Bamako to quarantine.

Dr. Katarine Arrana of Bamako's Ebola treatment center.

(SOUNDBITE) (French) DOCTOR AT EBOLA TREATMENT CENTRE, KATARINE ARRANA, SAYING:

"It's stressful to know that there may be more cases, and the risk of getting the disease is high."

Government officials say all necessary steps to identify those who came into contact with the nurse have been taken.

The deaths make Mali the sixth West African nation to be affected, by the world's worst outbreak of the deadly virus.
