Japan cracks down on Chinese illegal fishing

These Chinese vessels are being told in Mandarin to leave Japanese waters.

The coast guard says they've been illegally fishing for the lucrative red coral, sometimes even in Japan's exclusive economic zones.

The crackdown started in early October and authorities say over 100 Chinese ships are suspected.

But due to the difficulty of catching illegal poaching in the act, only five captains have been arrested so far.

Although Beijing has said it will cooperate with Tokyo on this, it can only add to an already tense relationship between the two who are facing bitter diplomatic and territorial disputes.
