The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) released two captured soldiers on Tuesday to the Red Cross. The rebels said that captured General, Ruben Dario Alzate, could be freed by this weekend, but demanded that the army suspend operations in the area where he is being held in order to avoid jeopardizing his release. President Juan Manuel Santos called the release of the two soliers yesterday an important step, but has not said if he will meet with the FARCs demand to demilitarize the Choco area. teleSUR
