Artist Matt C. Ellis has created a new mural in a series of works to bring awareness to the homeless. Often marginalized, stigmatized or completely forgotten Ellis' work shows the raw beauty that exists in many homeless people.
Starting in Miami, Ellis developed contact and in some cases friendships with the people he found homeless some allowed him to take photographs and later make large paintings of themselves.
He later moved back to New York where he lives today and continued the project.
Ellis also works full-time as a tattoo artist winning awards in this field. Even with tattoos Ellis was able to adapt his striking homeless paintings and images into fine art tattoos.
Ellis has now taken the project into the outdoors where he paints enormous murals that enhance neighborhoods and offer deep thought to those that see them.
