ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: A group of self-styled anarchists set fires in Athens on Tuesday (December 2) evening, burning a transport bus and three cars during a confrontation with police officers.
Police said at least one motorcycle was also set ablaze while several rubbish bins were set on fire, and four shop windows were smashed.
The group threw stones at police, who fired tear gas to dispel the youths. Five people were detained.
Fire-fighters quickly put out the blaze, and no one was injured. There were no passengers in the transport bus, and the youths forced the driver to disembark from the bus before they set it on fire.
The brief incident took place in the Exarchia neighborhood of Athens, a university neighborhood, where anarchist youths have often clashed with police in the past.
The clashes followed a protest by supporters of an anarchist currently in jail who is demanding he be allowed to attend university classes.
