Republican Congressmen blasted the Obama administration's move to normalize relations with Cuba Thursday (December 18), saying the apparent deal showed American weakness and conceded too much while getting little in return.
"This deal the president has come up with is a terrible trade-off. In exchange for diplomatic recognition, more cooperation on telecommunications, more banking, more commerce, more travel and more remittances, in the words of Raul Castro, 'Cuba has agreed to nothing,'" Republican Senator Marco Rubio said at a news conference in Florida. "This is the kind of deal you get when you send your speechwriter to negotiate with a tyrant."
