Tigers are absolutely stunning animals to look at, but they're endangered due to a number of factors. A court recently upheld a prison sentence so a man in China will spend the next 13 years in jail for eating endangered tigers.
The accused took three separate trips to Guangdong to purchase the animals in 2013. Each time he went, the man bought one tiger and the accomplices he brought along either watched or assisted in the death.
Reportedly, an electric shock method was used to kill all three tigers on the separate occasions. After the animal was dead, the man dismembered the body and then cooked and served the tiger to his companions.
At trial, court officials said he stored the tigers’ genitalia and grilled certain parts including the paws and skeletal pieces. During a search of the male’s home, investigators found a tiger’s penis along with bones and remains from other species including cobras and giant geckos.
The man reportedly paid about 210 grand for all three tigers and in court he was fined nearly $250,000 for the illegal acts that were done to them.
His accomplices also received fines and jail terms of least 5 years behind bars.
