Fighting rages in east Ukraine ahead of crucial talks to resolve the conflict.
At least one person has been killed when a shell hit a bus station in rebel-held Donetsk. The body of a man was found behind the wheel of a minibus and two others were seriously injured, though Kyiv has not confirmed the casualties.
Visiting the Ukrainian army’s eastern HQ in Kramatorsk which came under rocket fire on Tuesday, President Poroshenko denounced the violence.
“This incident is exactly dedicated to cancel, to be harmful for the negotiations,” he said. “Somebody don’t like the peace, somebody wants a war, somebody wants that they have only influence when they have killing the people, have a war, have an aggression against peaceful Ukraine.”
At least 16 people died and 65 were wounded in the rocket fire, according to Kyiv officials. Though the rebels denied firing on the city, the continued battles may complicate peace talks to reestablish a ceasefire that lies in ruins.
