Teachers from the Mexican state of Oaxaca ended their mass protests and sit-ins that have paralyzed the center of the country's capital in recent days. Negotiations with authorities resulted in a deal whereby the teachers will be paid their back wages. While thousands of members of Section 22 of the National Teachers Union will return to Oaxaca, they vow to continue their struggle against the government's educational reform, which they charge is a step toward privatizing schools and undermining their labor rights.
