Shock, relief, and indignation were some of the emotions expressed by Venezuelans in the wake of yesterday's foiled coup attempt. President Nicolas Maduro and other government leaders took to the airwaves to inform the population of the details of the US financed attempted coup, perpetrated by some air force officers in collaboration with right-wing opposition politicians. The plotters' plans included assassinating Maduro and bombing the offices of Telesur's and important government buildings. Maduro said that thanks to the country's intelligence service and loyal army officials, authorities had several weeks advance notice of the coup plans. National Assembly President Diosdado Cabello released the names of the plotters who have thus far been arrested. teleSUR
