Rescuers Free Manatees Stuck In Florida Drain Pipe

During the early morning hours of Tuesday, at least 19 manatees were rescued from a drain pipe in Satellite Beach, Florida.

During the early morning hours of Tuesday, at least 19 manatees were rescued from a drain pipe in Satellite Beach, Florida. 

The manatees were placed back into the Indian River Lagoon and it's that very same place rescuers believe they were before moving through the pipe in what could have been an effort to seek warmth. 

The process of getting them out certainly wasn't easy. It took crews from the Satellite Beach Fire Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, local utility workers, police officials and SeaWorld employees to make it happen. 

They had to cut through the pipe and then lift each sea cow out individually. Both cable and phones lines in the vicinity were disconnected while the rescue was underway.
